About me

Hello and welcome.
My name is Sony, I am 35 years old. Based in Brussels, I have 15 years of experience as a solution architect and lead developer.

Profile

I am a solution architect and lead developer with about fifteen years of experience in demanding environments (public sector, banking/insurance, industry, startups). My guiding principle is simple: design systems that are useful, maintainable, and secure—and bring them to production with a consistent focus on quality, clarity, and industrialized delivery.

My work sits at the intersection of architecture and execution. I design application architectures (APIs, microservices, integration, event-driven), modernize legacy information systems, and build urbanization/mapping (HOPEX/Mega) to make complex landscapes understandable, governable, and evolvable. I value documenting decisions (standards, ADR/C4, reviews), securing delivery (CI/CD as code, quality gates), and enabling teams (mentoring, code reviews, workshops, risk management).

Work Experience

In recent years, I worked as an Angular / .NET Lead Developer at the European Economic and Social Committee (joint services with the Committee of the Regions), rebuilding a legacy Windows translation workflow tool into a modern, secure, UX-focused web application. I owned a significant part of the technical framing and implementation, with strong responsibility for CI/CD (Azure Pipelines), quality (e.g., SonarQube), and technical governance (standards, testing strategy, OWASP recommendations, accessibility). I also explored an LLM-based translation service (Python/.NET), with a pragmatic approach centered on business value, security, and robustness.

Previously, at BPCE SA as a Solution Architect, I contributed to target architectures and architecture dossiers, the merger/modernization of a rating system used across group entities, and enterprise mapping (applications, APIs, data flows, databases) using HOPEX/Mega—also covering security topics (acting as a reference point for authentication patterns and recommendations). I additionally facilitated a tech watch group on quantum computing applied to finance (Azure/Q#) and contributed to work related to the environmental footprint of information systems.

My foundation was built on high-throughput, regulated systems (up to ~1 TB/day processed in under 10 hours), the rollout of DevSecOps practices, and applied security topics (SAML2 SSO, OWASP Top 10, cryptography, HSM simulator, key management, AES/RSA, RSA-KEM, XML signature). This breadth taught me to stay structured: clarify the need, reduce risk, deliver incrementally, measure, then improve.

Current focus

Since mid-February 2026, I have been deepening an "architecture + AI" track: AI-assisted development workflows (Copilot, LLMs), agent orchestration, and product-building (a document SaaS, a cross-platform assistant with Blazor/.NET MAUI).

Hobbies

I have a motorcycle license. As soon as I can, I go for a ride with my friends. Finally, to relax, I love swimming.

HSM simulator - C# / .NET / WCF / Oracle / Cryptography

As part of securing the network of transmitters and receivers, I designed and developed an application for simulating the components of an HSM. The application allows key management and decrypts all received data. There are about 50 million records to process per day.

Banque Populaire Caisse d'Épargne Assurances

Web Service - C# / .NET / WCF / SQL Server

In collaboration with several counterparts (OAB - Orange application for business, Genesys and OWI Technologies), I developed a web service allowing interconnection between several applications. The solution is efficient, resilient and maintainable thanks to the use of dependency injection or Disposable, for example. At the same time, I set up a web service monitoring system to be alerted in case of failure. The web service receives more than 30,000 calls a day.

Repository Management Tool - C# / MVC 5 / SQL Server / jQuery / Ajax

At the request of the technical management and steering teams, I developed a rich web application to modify an SQL data warehouse. The changes are then validated and archived.

Claims Management Tool - C# / MVC 3 / SQL Server

I have developed a rich web application for the complaints service to qualify, track and process a customer complaint. More than 12,000 claims were managed through the solution. The tool made up for the backlog.

Claims Cost Assessment Tool, OTC - C# / MVC 3 / SQL Server

To enable better claims management, I developed a rich web application for claims assessment. Thanks to the tool, the customer service team can propose an OTC. There are 500 users using the tool and the return on investment is significant: each administrator saved about 10 minutes on file management.

Personal projects

In my free time, I keep up with technology through several side projects:

.NET Core / C# / Angular 2 / TypeScript

I took advantage of the second version of Angular to test the new version of .NET and TypeScript.

C# / AngularJS 1

For several months, I developed a custom inventory management application on behalf of a wholesaler.

C# / WPF / MVVM / Tasks

To explore the MVVM pattern, I developed a tool that allows tagging MP3 files. I forced myself to use the MVVM Light framework.

Node.js / MongoDB

With a friend, we developed a website to catalog books and movies.

C# / MVC 5 / SQL Server / Azure

Before using it on a mission, I tried the MVC 5 framework during a personal project.
